Surya is a positive thinking boy. He doesn’t like his family name, so he always introduces himself by his first name. He is a good listener, but won’t tell people about him unless it’s a person he considers really close. Due to an accident in second year of junior high, he has his knee damaged, so he can’t do the sports he once loved. Instead of cursing his life, he likes to be supporter of his friends. He likes to involve himself in social activities, and generally has broad circle of friends and quickly gets the latest news or gossips.

On the other hand, Surya also has unexpectedly dark side. As a teenage boy, it’s not strange to avoid authorities, but he absolutely hates to get close to student council members. He gets snarky and snappish at those so-called geniuses, albeit he himself is not bad in terms of brains either. He often pretends he’s shallow or slow to get past people’s initial defenses, and is manipulative that way. Most of all, he hates himself.

Surya was born to Japanese father and Indonesian mother, hence his dark skin. However, from the previous marriage, his father had an older son by three years, Yuta. Surya somehow didn’t get along well with his brother, often gotten ignored or bullied, but he never really hated his brother until he entered the same junior high as Yuta. Born as a good-looking, overachieving genius, Yuta passed through life easily, and never really cared about his surroundings. It was including when Surya got labeled as socially unacceptable to be the Mr. Perfect’s brother. Surya was a strong boy, and ignored all of them and casually being a teenager with his circle of friends in basketball club, until he got in an accident. It happened so fast after going home late because a group of Yuta’s fans, who left him in classroom duty, blatantly hating him for being born that way. Yuta ignored that, but when he passed a construction site, there were heavy iron pipes falling onto him and damaged his knee cap beyond recovery.

Due to the accident, he had to stay behind a year. Losing his circle of friends, his favorite hobby, and losing sight of meaning in life, he pointed all his self-hatred, jealousy, and anger into his brother. Other than that, he stayed a positive thinking boy on the outside.

During his time in hospital, he also found that he didn’t get interested in those nurses albeit what his friends jokingly teased him. It was then that he found his preferences towards males. Somehow wanting to know his parents’ reaction, he told them right away, wanting to find solace and advices, but facing wrath instead. His mother was disgusted in him, his father almost disowned him, but in not wanting the society to start finding out what happened in his family, agreed to pay his high school tuition, and then beyond that, everything rest on himself.

Then he got enrolled in Mihashi Highschool, trying to keep his scores and hoping to find scholarships to university.
